Time capsule contents [microform], 1893-1895.

Time capsule contents include inmate handicraft samples (e.g., lacework; paper weavings); teacher and inmate lists; work schedules; form samples (e.g., certificate of commitment; death certificate; burial permit); Illinois map designating institution's location; account ledgers; admittance questionnaire; and vacation schedules. Also included are membership list for 39th General Assembly (1895); printed laws from 38th General Asembly (1893); Association of Medical Officers of American Institutions for Idiotic and Feeble-Minded Persons printed proceedings (1893-1894); and the asylum superintendent and trustee report to the Governor (1894). Besides a brief history on the asylum, the time capsule also contained brief histories for the Illinois Institution for the Deaf and Dumb at Jacksonville; Illinois General Hospital for the Insane at Jacksonville; Illinois Eastern Hospital for the Insane at Kankakee; Illinois Northern Hospital for the Insane at Elgin; Illinois Charitable Eye and Ear Infirmary at Chicago; Illinois Soldiers' and Sailors' Home at Quincy; and the Illinois Soldiers' Orphans' Home at Normal.
